Stingray DJAZZ presents its new series jazzahead! 2019 every Monday throughout January at 19:00 CET. An international trade fair, exhibition, and renowned festival, jazzahead!, is one of the most important events in the jazz community. Hosted annually in Bremen, Germany, it brings together musicians, bookers, agents, organizers, jazz experts and music enthusiasts. In 2019, 40 different jazz acts from all over the world perform over the course of three days. Special attention is paid to Norway's jazz scene. Divided into four distinct categories (Norway Night, European Jazz Meeting, German Jazz Expo and Overseas Night), all performances at jazzahead! offer insight into the current state of jazz.

Gard Nilssen's Acoustic Unity consists of drummer Gard Nilssen, saxophonist André Roligheten and bassist Ole Morten Vågan. The group’s leader is one of the most prominent and sought-after drummers in jazz and improvised music in Norway.

Makiko Hirabayashi Trio represents the Danish jazz scene on jazzahead! 2019. Led by the Japanese pianist Makiko Hirabayashi, the trio blends jazz with Nordic tones, Eastern traditions and classical music.
