EDITOR’S CHOICE: GONZALO RUBALCABA
OCTOBER 30 AT 21:00 CEST
Like every month, Editor’s Choice presents a hand-picked favorite of Stingray DJAZZ's editor-in-chief Rokas Kučinskas. This month's choice fell on Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and his 1991 performance at the Münchner Klaviersommer festival. Born in Havana, Cuba, Rubalcaba was discovered by trumpeter and modern-jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie in 1985. Since then, Rubalcaba has been hailed as one of the great pianists of the 20th century, alongside Bill Evans and classical figures such as Glenn Gould and Martha Argerich. The pianist won two Grammys and two Latin Grammys, establishing himself as a major name in the jazz world. Don’t miss out on Rubalcaba's performance on Saturday, October 30 at 21:00 CEST.
