Mizikopéyi Creole Big Band - Tropiques Atrium
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 AT 21:00 CEST
Singer Tony Chasseur and pianist Thierry Vaton created the French big band MizikOpéyi in 2006. MizikOpéyi offers a mix of traditional and popular Caribbean rhythms and Afro-Caribbean melodies, wrapped in jazzy big band arrangements. Composed of 17 musicians, the big band mimics the great New Orleans jazz ensemble tradition, incorporating a dozen horns in its brass section. The band’s repertoire consists of contemporary French West Indian music from Martinique and Guadeloupe, in genres such as Zouk, beguine, mazurka, and kompa.
Eleanor Dubinsky - Nublu 2019
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 AT 21:00 CEST
The music of vocalist, guitarist and cellist Eleanor Dubinsky lives at the tender edge where jazz, world and pop sensibilities meet emotionally forthright songwriting. The artist and her multi-faceted band perform dynamic compositions that explore the fragile links between human emotions and responsibility. At the center of Eleanor’s artistic mission is using music as a means for empowerment and generating dialogue.
