EDITOR’S CHOICE: INCOGNITO
SATURDAY, MARCH 30 AT 21:00
Like every month, Editor’s Choice presents a hand-picked favorite of Stingray DJAZZ's editor-in-chief, Karen van der Stal. This month's choice fell on London-based band Incognito. An acid-jazz project rooted in the 1970s jazz/funk/soul world, Incognito was originally formed by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and Paul "Tubbs" Williams, both original members of late 1970s disco/funk group Light of the World. After they took a couple of their jams into the studio, they debuted with the single ‘Parisienne Girl’ in 1980. Decades later, fronted by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, Incognito’s version of Boz Scaggs’s classic ‘Lowdown’ with vocalists Chaka Khan and Mario Biondi increased their international popularity. At Sing Jazz 2018, Incognito offers surprisingly fresh takes on classic musical themes, treating their fans to an unforgettable experience!
