STINGRAY DJAZZ PRESENTS: MONDAY NIGHT AT MOODS

This February, Stingray DJAZZ presents ‘Monday Night at Moods’, a series of special broadcasts from Zurich's internationally renowned jazz club. Some of the most exciting artists in contemporary music travel to Switzerland to perform at Moods. Enjoy a selection of their finest performances every Monday evening in February on Stingray DJAZZ. On February 3, delight in the seamless blend of jazz, R&B, and electronic influences of Los Angeles-based trio Moonchild. On February 10, the spotlight turns to Brazilian singer-songwriter Céu, whose eclectic musical style fuses samba, choro, soul, and electrojazz. February 17 highlights American singer Bilal, who is known for his wide vocal range and neo-soul style. Moonchild - Moods
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3 AT 21:00
The American jazz trio Moonchild consists of multi-instrumentalists Amber Navran (vocals, saxophone, clarinet), Max Bryk (saxophone, flute, clarinet, keyboard), and Andris Mattson (trumpet, flugelhorn, keyboard). The three musicians met during their study at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. A year after their formation in 2011, they released their first album “Be Free” (2012). Their music has been described as neo-soul, alternative R&B, and jazz. This trio-on-the-rise has toured with several renowned artists, including Kamasi Washington and The Internet. In this 2017 concert from Jazz Club Moods in Zurich, Switzerland, Moonlight teams up with drummer Efajemue Etoroma.
Céu - Moods

Brazilian singer-songwriter Maria do Céu Whitaker Poças, better known as Céu, grew up in a musical family. She studied music theory and plays the acoustic guitar known as the 'violão'. Her debut album, CéU, received a Grammy nomination in the category 'Best Contemporary World Music Album' in 2008. In the years that followed, Céu received several other nominations and awards. Her music reveals traces of samba, soul, African music, pop, and electrojazz. In this 2017 concert, Céu is accompanied by David Bovée (guitar), João Leão (keyboard), Lucas Martins (bass), and Thomas Harres (drums). This performance was recorded at Jazz Club Moods in Zurich, Switzerland.
Bilal - Moods

American neo-soul singer Bilal Sayeed Oliver, generally known as Bilal, studied at New York's New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, where he received both voice training and training in jazz and big-band arrangements. He has since worked with the likes of Erykah Badu, Robert Glasper, and Kendrick Lamar. In this concert from Jazz Club Moods in Zurich, Switzerland, Bilal is accompanied by Randall Runyon (guitar), Conley Whitfield (bass), and Joseph Grisette (drums).
Andrea Motis Quintet - Moods

Spanish jazz singer and trumpeter Andrea Motis has been playing the trumpet and saxophone since her early childhood. After six albums in collaboration with bassist Joan Chamorro, Motis released her first solo album ‘Emotional Dance’ on Impulse! Records in 2017. In this concert from Jazz Club Moods in Zurich, Switzerland, Motis is accompanied by Joan Chamorro (bass), Josep Traver (guitar), Ignasi Terraza (piano), and Esteve Pi (drums). She demonstrates her mesmerizing trumpet style and her inimitable vocals in no less than three languages: English, Catalan, and Portuguese.
