Like every month, Editor’s Choice presents a hand-picked favorite of Stingray DJAZZ's editor-in-chief Rokas Kučinskas this November. This month's choice fell on French drummer Manu Katché and his 2021 performance at Jazz au Sommet in Saint-Genest-Malifaux, France. Since the start of his career, Katché has been involved in numerous jazz, pop, and rock projects. The drummer has played and recorded with many well-known artists around the world, including Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Eurythmics, Joni Mitchell, Jan Garbarek, Manu Chao, Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman, Sting, Herbie Hancock, and Joe Satriani. Manu Katché is one of France's most famous jazz drummers, who originally studied piano at the Conservatory in Paris before he switched to percussion. He presented his tenth album, “The scOpe”, which incorporates elements of jazz, rock, and world music, at the 2020 edition of Festival Jazz au Sommet in France. Katché is joined on stage by Jérôme Regard on bass, Alfio Origlio on piano, Walter Ricci on vocals, and Patrick Manouguian on guitar.
