The Canadian guitarist, composer and producer Jesse Cook (1964) is widely considered as one of the most influential figures in nuevo flamenco (new flamenco) music. This genre combines flamenco guitar music with fusion. This modern flamenco can have elements of jazz, rumba, bossa nova, Gypsy, Latin genres, rock, Cuban Swing, tango and blues. Cook mainly mixes flamenco with jazz and forms of world music into his work. He is one of the best guitar players in Canada and won awards for Best Instrumental Album at the Juno awards. He is also a three-time winner of the Canadian Smooth Jazz award for Guitarist of the Year.
