“Making of…” – Reload
Friday, December 8 at 19:35 & Monday, January 8 at 13:35
“Reload“ is not actually a reload and neither is it a new start, but a reinvention and a revival that bathes any artistic accomplishment of her piano personality in a fresh, glowing light. It’s a statement, in every sense of the word. With “Reload“, Marialy Pacheco is dropping her twelfth album and her most touching and mature work to date. Aside from two Cuban standards, it only contains her own material. “I wanted to expand my color palette,” she explains the concept behind the album. “Here, my Cuban roots are growing in the direction of Latin American traditions and the influences from classical music.” “Reload“ is a melting-pot of various musical identities and a treasure trove of many life experiences – as well as one of the most impressive and emotional albums of our day.
Oye El Carbonero
Monday, December 4 at 06:48 & Thursday, January 25 at 13:30
“Oye el Carbonero” is a Cuban classic made popular in the 50’s by legendary Son singer Miguel Cuní. The song was arranged by Marialy Pacheco and performed with Israeli star bass player, Avishai Cohen, wich gives it a fascinating modern twist, attributable to the intricate bass lines and Avishai’s approach to Cuban rhythms. To have Avishai as a guest on the album was an absolute honor and an extraordinary experience for Marialy.
Cartagena Bliss
Thursday, December 14 at 06:45 & Saturday, January 13 at 23:44
Cartagena Bliss is inspired by the city of Cartagena, a colorful and beautiful city on Colombia’s Caribbean Coast. The song features german trumpet player Nils Wülker and was composed by Marialy almost for him, for his sound and his unique playing approach. One could say Nils brings an European flavour to this tune, turning ”Cartagena Bliss“ into quite an event, while showcasing Marialy’s fresh fusion of Jazz and Latin American music.
Paseo en 6/8
Tuesday, December 19 at 19:40 & Saturday, January 20 at 06:34
Paseo en 6/8 is an homage to the Trio’s Caribbean roots and it’s deeply influenced by Afrocuban and Afrocolombian rhythms. The tune, composed by Marialy while travelling in Colombia, resembles the feeling of a street party in the Caribbean, under the sun.
