Like every month, Editor’s Choice presents a hand-picked favorite of Stingray DJAZZ's editor-in-chief, Karen van der Stal. This month, Karen spotlights French guitarist Paul Jarret and New York drummer Jim Black at Jazz à Vienne, one of the world's most prestigious jazz festivals. Ever since 1981, Jazz à Vienne has attracted a mix of jazz legends and exciting newcomers, with many of them playing return engagements. Each year welcomes outstanding international stars to the historical Le Théâtre Antique where they impress and inspire their audiences. In 2019, Paul Jarret and Jim Black presented ‘Ghost Songs’ at Jazz à Vienne, a hybrid of rock and jazz. They are joined by saxophonist Julien Pontvianne and pianist Jozef Dumoulin.
