STINGRAY DJAZZ PRESENTS: INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY

International Youth Day is an awareness day designated by the United Nations, first observed on August 12, 2000. In commemoration of this day, Stingray DJAZZ invites you to watch three concerts of relatively young and up-and-coming artists on today’s jazz scene. Enjoy singer-songwriter Eleanor Dubinsky’s performance at Nublu in New York City on August 12 at 20:00 CEST. Directly after, at 21:00 CEST, Australian bassist Tamara Murphy’s concert “Spirograph Studies” in Australia's second city Melbourne is broadcast. Lastly, tune in for vocalist and guitarist William Dangar Adjim’s concert from Greve in Berlin at 22:00 CEST. Celebrate International Youth Day with Stingray DJAZZ!
Eleanor Dubinsky - Nublu 2019

The music of vocalist, guitarist and cellist Eleanor Dubinsky lives at the tender edge where jazz, world and pop sensibilities meet emotionally forthright songwriting. The artist and her multi-faceted band perform dynamic compositions that explore the fragile links between human emotions and responsibility. At the center of Eleanor’s artistic mission is using music as a means for empowerment and generating dialogue.
Tamara Murphy - Spirograph Studies

Spirograph Studies have leapt onto the Australian music scene with their detailed, textural approach to playing improvised music. Post-rock, post-jazz and post-minimalism, they shamelessly steal sonic palettes from all areas to build their cinematic sound. This collaborative group features Luke Howard (piano), Fran Swinn (guitar) and James McLean (drums). This strong collection of music-makers each bring their unique voice to the stage as part a united front led by bassist Tamara Murphy.
William Sahel - GREVE Studio

Guitarist and vocalist Willy Sahel was born in N'djamena, Chad. He mixes traditional rhythms with soul, jazz and gospel, singing in his mother tongue and eight other languages. His quartet performs melodic, harmonious and groovy music at Greve Studios in Berlin, with an extraordinary energy that draws the listener into his universe from the moment he hits the first note. Sahel is joined by keyboardist Adebambo Akinwale, ukelele and electric bass player Noriaki Hosoya, and drummer Ra'fat Muhammad.
