SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 AT 21:00
Like every month, Editor’s Choice presents a handpicked favorite of Stingray DJAZZ's editor-in-chief, Karen van der Stal. This month, Karen spotlights an unforgettable Latin jazz performance by pianist Alfredo Rodriguez and percussionist Pedrito Martinez. Captured at the 2019 edition of the Jazz sous les Pommiers festival in Coutances, France, both musicians, hailing from Havana, Cuba, perform original compositions alongside Yoruba pieces, paying homage to the African diaspora in Cuba, and offer an unexpected interpretation of the Super Mario theme. As if further testament to their prowess were needed: their debut album 'Duologue' (2019) was produced by none other than the legendary Quincy Jones!
