EDITOR’S CHOICE: CHARLES BRADLEY
SATURDAY, AUGUST 31 AT 21:00
Like every month, Editor’s Choice presents a hand-picked favorite of Stingray DJAZZ's editor-in-chief, Karen van der Stal. This month, Karen’s choice fell on “the Screaming Eagle of Soul”: the world-famous American vocalist Charles Bradley (1948-2017). Success did not come easily to Bradley: before he even considered a career as a singer, he tried to make ends meet with countless odd jobs. It was only in 1996 that he finally followed in the footsteps of his great idol, soul icon James Brown. Brown and Bradley shared the talent to bring an audience to ecstasy. With his mix of funk, soul, and R&B, Bradley developed a sound of his own. With his band The Extraordinaires, Bradley graced the stage of La Cigale in Paris in 2012. Don’t miss this dynamic show that is as heartfelt as it is hard-hitting on Saturday, August 31 at 21:00 – on Stingray DJAZZ.
