EDITOR’S CHOICE: CHUCHO VALDÉS SEPTET
JULY 25 AT 21:00 CEST
When the summer sun reaches its peak, the jazz world offers the perfect soundtrack: Afro-Cuban or Latin jazz. Brought to the attention of western audiences by trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie’s fascination for Cuban rhythms and melodies, Afro-Cuban jazz has legitimized itself today as one of the most passionate subgenres of jazz, with defining artists such Arturo Sandoval, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Omar Sosa, Roberto Fonseca, Danilo Pérez, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Chucho Valdés. It is the latter whom Stingray DJAZZ brings to your attention: on Saturday, July 25 at 21:00 CEST, enjoy the Chucho Valdés Septet's performance in “Cuba Cuba”.

SATURDAY, JULY 25 AT 21:00 CEST
The ‘Chucho Valdés Septet’ is brought together bij Chucho Valdés himself, for the Jazz Open festival in Stuttgart, 1999. Musicians like Michel Camilo, Claudio Roditi, Frank Rubio and Raul Pineda belong to the best Latin Jazz artists of the world today. The ensemble of Valdes and Camilo, combined with the Afro-Cuban jazz rhythms, generate an extremely energetic and eccentric show.
