STINGRAY DJAZZ CELEBRATES KURT ROSENWINKEL
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 28 FROM 21:00
Stingray DJAZZ celebrates the 55th birthday of Kurt Rosenwinkel, one of the most influential American jazz guitarists of his generation. Rosenwinkel is known for his distinct sound, which involves singing what he is playing. A sought-after sideman as well as a respected band leader, he has recorded with the likes of saxophonist Mark Turner, pianist Brad Mehldau, and guitarist John Scofield. In celebration of Rosenwinkel’s milestone birthday, Stingray DJAZZ presents his trio Bandit 65’s performance at Jazzfest Bonn 2017. Together with Tim Motzer on guitar and electronics, and Gintas Janusonis on drums and percussion, Rosenwinkel explores the beauty of “post-jazz”, located at the intersection of guitars, rhythm, electronics, soundscapes, free improvisation, and telepathic interplay. Enjoy the best of today’s music with Stingray DJAZZ!
