Jazzahead! 2024 is an annual jazz trade fair, festival, and exhibition that brings together musicians, industry professionals, and jazz enthusiasts from around the world. Being the jazz community’s most important and dynamic event, it is hosted in Bremen, Germany, and showcases a diverse array of international jazz talent. In celebration of this influential gathering, Stingray DJAZZ offers a special lineup featuring memorable performances. In 2024, the world’s largest jazz event paid special attention to the jazz scene of the Netherlands and invited over forty jazz acts to perform. Among the ensembles presenting themselves, on November 3 is Kaisa’s Machine. This quintet around New York City-based, Finnish-born bassist, composer, and bandleader Kaisa Mäensivu tells stories, characterized by sonic depth and unexpected twists. On November 10, witness American pianist and composer Andy Milne’s trio Unison. With over three decades of experience, Milne, a protégé of legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, has collaborated with notable figures including Ravi Coltrane, Andrew Cyrille, and Sekou Sundiata. On November 17, immerse yourself in Sultan Stevenson’s trio. Pianist Stevenson, a Londoner with Caribbean roots, is a rapidly rising talent in the London jazz circuit, whose debut album 'Faithful One' won him the Parliamentary Jazz Award for the best newcomer. On November 24, delight in the sparkling compositions and dazzling musicianship of Luc Ben Abdeslam, better known as Daoud. Being a multifaceted musician from Toulouse, he excels as a trumpeter, record producer, mixer, songwriter, and composer. Having gained extensive experience as a sideman, the French musician now spearheads a vibrant young quintet that has quickly become a sensation on the French music scene. Hosted in Bremen, Germany, jazzahead! brings together musicians, bookers, agents, organizers, jazz experts, and music enthusiasts at the world’s largest jazz event. In 2024 jazzahead! focused on the Netherlands with over 40 artists preforming over the course of three days. Luc Ben Abdeslam, better known as Daoud, is a multifaceted musician from Toulouse who excels as a trumpeter, record producer, mixer, songwriter, and composer. Having gained extensive experience as a sideman, the French musician now spearheads a vibrant young quintet that has quickly become a sensation on the French music scene. With their irreverent music full of emotion and irony, the group captivates audiences with their fresh, charismatic performances and Daoud's playful humor. Their music, which blends elements of jazz, hip-hop, R&B, blues, and soul, has led them from winning competitions in 2022 to opening for renowned artists like Lakecia Benjamin and Eric Truffaz in 2023. The group has also graced the stages of major festivals, including those in Montreal and Juan-les-Pins. The lineup includes Luc Ben Abdeslam (trumpet), Etienne Manchon (keys), Louis Navarro (double bass), Felix Robin (vibraphone), and Guillaume “Wisedrum” Prevost (drums).
